Default Full hard disk

I've inherited a 7 year old computer with windows 98.
The disk is only 2gb and it's full.
Being very new to computers I have no idea how to delete
files to make extra room !
I want to use the computer mainly for e-mails so I'm not
too bothered about what I delete, I juat need a step by
step guide on how to do it.

Thank you.

Start button, settings, control panel, add remove programs. If you don't
know what a program is, don't uninstall it without asking. Do a find on:
Temp and once found, double click it to open the folder. Highlight
all items and delete them. Empty the recycle bin.

1. Use Start - Settings - Control Panel - Internet Options. On the
General tab click on the Delete Files button. In the Delete Files
window click on the checkbox for "Delete all offline content" to
select it then click on OK. When that completes you will have some
free space.

2. Open Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and look over the list of
installed items to identify programs that you do not want to use on
that computer. Uninstall these.

3. Reboot the computer and launch Windows Explorer. Navigate to the
c:\windows\temp folder in the left side panel. In the right panel
select any item then use Ctr+A to select them all. Press the Delete
key to send the entire contents of the Temp folder to the Recycle bin.
You can empty the recycle bin when you are confident that nothing
important has been affected by deleting these files (nothing should
be).

Good luck
