Full install of 98SE
-----Original Message----- I've heard you can copy all of the Win98SE files to the hard drive so that if a program asks for the CD you can point it to the hard drive to find the files it needs, I asked about it on an AOL message board and got this response: Copy the CD to your hard drive first. Make sure that when you copy the CD to the drive that all the folder hierarchy on the CD remains intact. The open the registry editor and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rent Version\Setup Change the value in the right pane for the setup or source path to point to the folder on your hard drive where you copied the CD to. Is that the best way to do it? Copy the entire CD? I didn't do anything with registery when I copied my cd to hd. Just make a directory under c:\ called win98cd and copy the cd to the directory. Anytime the pc ask you to put in the win98 cd, just browse and point to that directory. GUD LUCK. |
