I have the same question. Does linksys have any wireless adaptor which work with a windows 98 machine? Thanks. "Steve Winograd [MVP]" wrote in message ... Was trying to do wireless simply because of the necessity to climb into attic and string lan wires. I have an WIN-SE CD, and was thinking of 'upgrading' the beast, however it is an OEM E machine that has not given me any trouble over the last 5 years of service and would rather not upset the current config. I can't remember if an upgrade destroys all data or not?? TIA. An upgrade from original Win98 to Win98SE shouldn't destroy data. However, it's prudent to back up your data before making any significant change to a computer, in case of unexpected problems. Both original Win98 and Win98SE can network with XP. However, it's hard to find wireless networking equipment that works with either original Win98 or Win98SE. Here's an alternative: don't upgrade, and get a wireless-to-Ethernet bridge, which can connect to a wired Ethernet adapter on any computer: http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WGE111.php http://games.dlink.com/products/?pid=383&#DGL-3420 http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=154416 -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
