You could install it, then disable pending actual need. Adobe Reader 6 will not be receiving any future potential fixes as far as I know. -- MEB http://peoplescounsel.orgfree.com ________ |

Thanks MEB,
I won't install it then. I also noticed that when I went up to the Adobe downloads it wants people with 6.01 to upgrade to 6.02. Should I do it?. I only have 6.0. What can the Adobe Reader 6.02 do that 6.0 does not do? Angel "MEB" meb@not wrote in message ... The version's updates (Reader 6) were, as always, for security and prog updates to Adobe Reader. Note though it will increase the space used by the program (in several areas on your system), and increase the amount of memory used by the program. However, you can easily disable some of the pluggins included upon startup, by moving those to the %drive%:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\Optional - folder. Then when you need them, just put them back in their proper place. So in short, Yes update. But look to see you need included in the startup process, as many functions/pluggins are rarely used. | | "MEB" meb@not wrote in message | ... | | | "Angel" wrote in message | ... | | Hi gang, | | | | I have a question about an update that appeared when I clicked on | the | | updates for Adobe 6.Should I download it? You also should consider getting that freebie "PDF SpeedUp" addon, which
really speeds up loading the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Angel wrote: Thanks MEB, I won't install it then. Okay, I have used the 6.06 version for quite awhile, and it functions well
[of course I also have FoxIt Reader, and have tested several related programs, such as PDF creators]. Oh, there are also *pluggin managers* which you can use to disable whatever pluggins you don't need. I think Glen or someone else posted one or two awhile ago, perhaps they could re-post them... -- MEB http://peoplescounsel.orgfree.com ________ "Angel" wrote in message ... | Hi MEB, response in line. | | "MEB" meb@not wrote in message | ... | | | "Angel" wrote in message | ... | | Thanks MEB, | | | | I won't install it then. | | | | I also noticed that when I went up to the Adobe downloads it wants | people | | with 6.01 to upgrade to 6.02. I just did. PDF SpeedUp. And it's free, and worked great.
(You run it once and it's done, and Adobe Reader comes up a LOT faster now).
