windows 98 to win 2000

my other half has a win 98 pc. After just purchasing a new mini ipod player
she needs to upgrade to win 2000 to use the ipod software. i have a windows
2000 cd and would like to upgrade her pc for her but just want to check what
to do. do i just insert the cd and follow the instructions or do i need to
delete windows 98 first and then put on 2000? many thanks.

First and foremost, BACKUP!!! Make an image of the drive, if possible. Check
for driver compatibility/availability, and system requirements BEFORE you
start the upgrade (win2k works best with 256Mb RAM min, but it will accept
128... though slow). After it is all said and done, you don't need to delete
w98, otherwise you will need to reinstall all software after the upgrade.
