Win98 hangs on opening

After many rounds with Gateway techs online, my system is
truly a mess. Help! Started as a monitor problem but
now upon booting, the system either hangs on the
Windows98 Logo or it reboots itself into Safe Mode. I
have tried reinstalling Windows but again, on a restart,
it freezes on the Windows Logo.

We would have to know exactly what the techs had you do to get in this situation.
Did they not have you reverse whatever changes they had you make?

Do a logged boot, and then download and run BootLog Analyser.
Set BootLog Analyser to show delays and failures, and post back with that report,
along with the last few lines of the bootlog.

To do a logged boot, start the computer and hold down the CTRL key till the Windows
98 Startup menu (boot menu) appears.
Use the arrow keys to select "Logged [/bootlog.txt]" and press Enter.
