Critical Update Issues

I downloaded the critical updates packages this weekend
and one of them was something to do with OE. Everything
went well until I began receiving email with the
attachments. While I was once able to open them they now
arrive and open with either wordpad or notepad and are for
the most part gibberish. First I did a restore which
resolved the problem but screwed up the NAV royally and
then I got the bright idea to just uninstall the one
troublesome update but that also has not resolved the
problem of opening attachments as they once opened. Any
easy suggestions? Thanks

First - reinstall the patches!!
then open OE, and go to Tools|Options|Security.
You'll see a checkbox 'Do not allow....' - it's this one which controls you
ability to open attachments.
NOTE: if you turn this switch off, make sure that you scan ALL files
downloaded with at least one Anti-virus program before opening!!! - and use
the Save option rather than the Open option
