Antivirus software
As per another thread, I stated that I do not use an antivirus software. For
about three months now, things have been good. However, with all the good advice I was given in relation to the said topic, I have decided that perhaps I should reinstall an AV program again. I used to use AVG. But I would like input as to which software is very good. I run Windows 98 SE on an IBM 300 PL with a Pentium II (355 MHz) processor and 192 MB of RAM. AVG seemed to work fine for me, but did cause a slow startup. Is there any other AV software that is not only free, but very reliable and easy on system resources? At this particular junction, I am open to any suggestions! Thanks in advance! |

I don't run AV software either (on my primary win-98 system that is, but I do run NAV-2002 on several win-98 systems that I manage at home and work). I do, however, run registry-monitoring softwa http://www.anti-trojan-software-revi...he-cleaner.htm |

ClamWin is a nice antivirus program of that kind, it is free and open source. http://www.clamwin.com/ other antivirus program can allso be set to not scan in the background by turning off real-time scanning when you install them. I run Windows 98 SE on an IBM 300 PL with a Pentium II cool. I have a IBM 300PL too :-) and 192 MB of RAM. AVG seemed to work fine for me, but did cause a slow startup. Antivirus software
I used CA My e-Trust for many years at $30 per year. It worked OK but was
not rated highly by recent evaluators. I switched to free Avast! http://www.avast.com/ and am very pleased with it. I also have an "old dog" PII, 300 MHz 'puter using 98se and it works just fine with it. |

I use Norton AV 2005-it the newest version still supported that works on
Win98 or ME. "Paradoxdb3" wrote in message ... As per another thread, I stated that I do not use an antivirus software. For about three months now, things have been good. I had paid ££ for this and threw it away. So I didn't get what I paid for. Also it unacceptably slowed down my computer. But then I discovered NOD32, costs about £20 a year, does what it says on the tin, no hassle, doesn't use hardly any resources, and works for me. And it gets good reviews, too. So now I've got what I pay for. someone |
