No auto disconnect
Win 98 IE6.0, Dial-up Networking
Hi, My online session does not terminate automatically when the connection is no longer being used, thereby frequently costing money unnecessarily if the operator forgets to disconnect manually. In Internet Options/Settings/Advanced Dial Up, the option boxes (to disconnect after 15 mins idle and to disconnect if it appears the connection is no longer needed) are both ticked. Is there a solution to this (other than an expensive permanent connection). |

Win 98 IE6.0, Dial-up Networking
My online session does not terminate automatically when the connection is no longer being used This may help. http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;193555 http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;153965 Also, be sure that other applications are not using the connection, as this may cause the connection to remain active. Email programs, instant messaging programs, games, etc. can all keep the connection open. Is there a solution to this (other than an expensive permanent connection). Depending on where you are at .... not so expensive any more. Some DSL providers are offering service for the same, or slightly more, than a typical dialup account. |
