pdf printer required
Tim W wrote recently in microsoft.public.windowsme.general, to which I
am responding to by adding microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion because it's equally applicable to Tim's question and has the advantage of being read by people that are actually knowledgeble in technical details relating to win-9x/me and who do more than just gab or treat a newsgroup as a social gathering site as to those that read microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion: I just downgraded from XP to keep an old laptop in use after it was driven slower and slower by anti virus programs. The machine is really flying again - feels like new - but the only problem I have is there is no driver available for the printer I have attached to the desktop in the study. No problem I think, if I need to do occasional printing I will just make a pdf and print that. I can't remember what was agood pdf printer program for Win98 (actually Me in my case) so can anyone recommend? IIRC pdfs are a bit like old metafiles and can have text, vector graphics and raster images in them and I need one which handles them all. A pdf maker which converts a CAD file to a raster for instance is going to be no use. Thanks, Tim W You might want to look for Adobe Acrobat PDF Distiller. It will give you the ability to print to a pdf file by virture of adding another option to your printer list. So any time you print a document, you can select the PDF Distiller instead of your default printer as necessary. You normally had to buy PDF distiller (at least you had to years ago). Perhaps the option of printing to a pdf file is now built-into Windows Vista or Seven (I don't know). If you can't find a win-98 compatible program to do this (adobe pdf distiller or other) then I can upload my copy of Adobe PDF distiller 4 somewhere and make it available for you to download. Just let me know if you want it. |
