Thank you Alan for your help with removal of this,
although I have followed your instructions and removed it
from start up, it seems like a very clever parasite. I
still cannot download anything, not even the CWshredder as
you suggested, I am getting the Plug In error that it
cannot be initiated. A scan of all files in Norton has
shown I have no viruses, have you any idea what else I can
do please?

You have a choice between a zip and exe download.
Try the zip download.

Your problem with other downloads, like .exe could be solved by this:
(which may be unrelated to your problem)

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
[Q303401]
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.
