It is a ToshibaTecra 500CDT, I was in A: from the 98 startup disk then went
to D:. It does boot up...oem disk? not sure what you mean. It boots up says
the pci bus scan and all that was complete..everything comes up good until I
put Setup in...then it says cannot run setup in DOS mode. I dont know much
about any more of it....just trying to get it out of DOS mode as the computer

1. Some laptops require custom installations; most
require custom drivers (for LED display etc.)

2. A Win98SE system CD that will not run SETUP in
DOS mode is probably an upgrade CD, designed to
run only on a PC that already has Win98.

Wow sorry to take so long to get back. Things happen. Anyway usally when
I have seen the "can't run in DOS mode" means that the OS I am using is an
NT based one. If you are still having greef try this: after you boot to
the A:
drive and get the DOS prompt A: type in the following - VER and hit enter.
If it says anything other than "Windows 98 [Version 4.10.222]" you are not
using Windows 98 Second Edition. If you are still out there let us know
what
is going on.

later,
charles....
