Can't Change Desktop "Screen Area" in Display Properties from 640 X 480 to higher setting

Hi,

I was given a Global desktop PC with Windows 98se. In the
Display Properties, "Settings" tab, I am unable to change the "Screen Area" to
a higher setting (stuck on 640 X 480). I have no trouble changing "Color"
resolution from 256 Colors, "High Color" (16 bit), or "True Color" (24 bit).
I tried "High Color" but I still could not make it change.

Note: This has a Trident display driver.

Check the refresh rate in display properties (rt click on a blank spot in
your Desktop and select properties) and go through it.
If you don't have the latest video driver, find it and dl it to a location
you will remember.
Uninstall your present video drivers and reboot and install the new drivers
for your vid card.
If there are no newer drivers, uninstall the old ones, reboot and install
the drivers again.

you have.

Do a search on Google How to install video drivers in Win98.

Please post back on your results when you get it working properly.
If you are still having problems, post the model # of your Trident Video
Adapter.
