Default Need a copy of Windows ME HOSTS file

Hello, I was told that my HOSTS file has been corrupted and is causing my
ISP to not download web pages my laptop browser. I can connect and log on
to my ISP but that's as far as I can get. If anyone has Windows ME loaded on
their computer and can download web pages please make a copy of this HOSTS
file and attach it to an email message and send it to me at
. It is located in the C:\Windows directory. It is not the
HOSTS SAM file which is something like 763 bytes big, but is the HOSTS file
which will be larger. Do a search for HOSTS on your drive where Windows is
and you should get back three hits, 2 should be SAM files and the other will
be the one I need. Thank you in advance.

When I first set up my computer, Windows ME, there was no hosts file. I have
since added one, but it is customized to my tastes. Anybody who actually
uses a hosts file has probably done likewise; it likely wouldn't work for
you.

The purpose of the hosts file is to provide an IP-Address-to-Domain-Name
table. Windows will use it for a domain name lookup before using the DNS
servers. Unless you know why you have a hosts file, most likely you don't
need a hosts file. As Rick T states, "Delete it". Or, if you want to study
it, and see how it screwed you up, add a file extension to the name; say,
".bad".
