Win start up menu

I have tried a few things to try to solve this problem
with the help of someone on this message board,but to no
avail. I boot up my kids' pc and up comes the windows
start up menu screen and will not go into windows at all.
When I put in normal mode up comes a reading that says
detected registry/configuration error choose prompt only
& run scanreg.I have done this but as its scanning I dont
see anything happening and it will sit there for over 30
min. Can someone please help me to get this problem
fixed????

Registry Checker Continues to Detect Registry Damage

Better check the integrity of RAM (Memory), as that is often
suspect, when Windows does it's auto-/Restore of the Registry at boot...
