CDilla wat dat?

It appears common advice here,
to have a brace of programs for malware,
Spybot and Adaware.

I must say I am quite pleased with their cleanup
routine, but it seems that at every Spybot
run, on my machine, it picks up CDilla.

Does this malware keep reinventing itself,
or is there something I can do to prevent
it re appearing ?
I am not au-fait with the general nuts and bolts of the
spybot program.

name brand removal utilities. I would try SpySweeper http://www.webroot.com/
there is a free trial and SuperAntiSpyware http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html
there is a free version.

Hi Rod,

The reason CDilla keeps showing up is because it was never removed--it is
most likely on Spybot's "Ignore Products" list.

Open up Spybot S&D-Settings-Ignore Products button, and select the "All
Products" tab. Scroll down until you find "CDilla" (there are most likely
two entries), and UN-check both or all of them, and then exit out. CDilla
will not be skipped or ignored in future runs of Spybot.

The reason CDilla is on the "ignore" list is because it is *not* considered
spyware in one sense of the word, but is now considered a PUP (potentially
unwanted program), and Spybot was simply leaving this decision up to the
individual user.

Some programs use "CDilla" as part of their copy protection. If you remove
it, and then some program stops working, do not be surprised.

However, win98 itself should continue to work fine. Ditto for Microsoft
Office.

I have removed CDilla at least 5 times before,
so I guess the programs I have, are not effected.

it is a part of autocad/3dmax/mechdesktop/ etc..... cant remember which one, but it is
harmless, no need to mess with it.
(and, like mentioned b4, other programs may use the same scenario)
