disappearing drives

have recently purchased a new pc. some times when i start
up the (presume)hard drive screeches on and off.If I go
into properties the dvd rom has disappeared & the dvd rw
has a cross against it. going to system info it says
serondary IDE controller dual fifo has been dynamically
disabled (code10. also ACPI IRQ holder for PCI IRQ
steering (code22). do i need to replace the drivers, if so
where do i get them from. All help greatfully appreciated.

With a new PC (and screeching noise, yet!) it's more likely a hardware
problem - get the vendor to sort it out
