Default Reg patch for U.S. Daylight Saving Time changes?

Thanks, Terhune & Fredericks too— & even Colorado & 98 Guy. For those
who haven't clicked the article...

| Those values are the only ones that need changing.

That is true enough, far as TZEDIT.EXE. But the article goes on to say
to change your current time zone to another & back again...

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=914387
......Quote........
g. Click Start, point to Settings, point to Control Panel,
and then double-click Date/Time.
h. Click the Time Zone tab.
i. Select a different time zone than (the one you are set at),
and then click Apply.
j. Click (back to the one you were set at), and then click OK.

Note Steps i and j are required for the new changes to take effect.
......EOQ..........

That should be the end of it, but of course only time will tell for
sure.

Default Reg patch for U.S. Daylight Saving Time changes?

Looks the same to me, except mine is dated with the normal Win98SE modified
date of 4/23/99. But the filesize and version are identical to the one
you got. However, I haven't run it yet (isn't it a bit early to do this?
well, maybe not)

Oops! Good catch, PCR.

I think we can put you in charge of a Master Post for this issue. In
addition to answering all posts that inquire on the subject, you can also
post a once-weekly reminder, s.

When March rolls around, we'll all chip to help with the flood of, "Hey,

and then double-click Date/Time.
h. Click the Time Zone tab.
i. Select a different time zone than (the one you are set at),
and then click Apply.
j. Click (back to the one you were set at), and then click OK.

Note Steps i and j are required for the new changes to take effect.
.....EOQ..........

That should be the end of it, but of course only time will tell for
sure.

If a patch is not already offered for Windows 98/98SE, then it won't be
offered. Support has ended for those systems. The way to do it is

manually,
using TZEDIT.EXE. It's really quite straight forward. Just run it,

select
your time zone, click Edit, and change the values to have daylight

savings
time start on the second Sunday in March, and end on the first Sunday

in
November. Those values are the only ones that need changing.

Does anyone know if a registry patch is available yet *for
Windows 98* for the 2007 Daylight Saving Time changes for the
United States?

I've googled it, checked the MS website, etc. and can't find a
patch for Win98. Fwiw, I expect patches to be written by
panicked folks about 10 minutes after the change goes into
effect on March 11, 2007, hahaha.

Note: I'm looking for a *patch*. I know I can do it manually
using tzedit and the info on MS's site, but I don't want to
take a chance and screw it up. Rather leave it up to the
technical experts. ;-)

Default Reg patch for U.S. Daylight Saving Time changes?

Thanks, Colorado. I guess the file stayed the same, but the date
changed, when they went to SE. OK, that's good enough for me. Also, it
scanned clean & ran well.

Right, by that article of Fredericks,...

.....Quote..........
The 2006 implementation is as follows:
• Daylight saving time starts at 02:00 A.M. on April 2, 2006.
• Daylight saving time ends at 02:00 A.M. on October 29, 2006.

The 2007 implementation is as follows:
• Daylight saving time starts at 02:00 A.M. on March 11, 2007.
• Daylight saving time ends at 02:00 A.M. on November 4, 2007
.....EOQ.............

....looks like anywhere between October 29, 2006 & March 11, 2007 is good
for the change. It seems like a nice little app. I'm confident it will
work.
