Default Error msg after doing a scandisk

After doing a scandisk on my computer, I just get the
following msg when I try to restart the computer: MSGSRV32
caused an invalid page fault in module unknown at
bff7:bcde2485

Thereafter the computer freezes. What can I do to correct
this situation? Eventually: Can I do anything to undo the
scandisk-corrections?

The machine is using Windows-98 SE.

Thanks in advance.

Frank
