Default Service layer (not responding)

Hi,
I am running Win98se on a Dell 1GHz. Windows keeps
freezing. When I do ctrl-alt-del I see the above error,
ending the "service layer" usually clears the problem, but
not always and requires a reboot. I cannot reproduce the
problem, but it seems more likely to occur when I am using
some combination or subset of: IE6, outlook, adobe
acrobat, windows explorer or word.
Your advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Rod
