Worm.SomeFool.Gen-1 message found in email
This was in my yahoo email today, first, I didn't send anything to anyone.
Secondly, can't find this worm/virus anywhere on any anti virus site. Is this a scam? I edited my email so it would not get posted. Thanks A virus was found in an Email message you sent. This Email scanner intercepted it and stopped the entire message reaching its destination. The virus was reported to be: Worm.SomeFool.Gen-1 Please update your virus scanner or contact your IT support personnel as soon as possible as you may have a virus on your system. Your message was sent with the following envelope: MAIL FROM: RCPT TO: .... and with the following headers: --- MAILFROM: Received: from icafe8.ion.co.za (HELO ctech.ac.za) (196.33.123.201) by ctmx02.ctech.ac.za with SMTP; 2 Jul 2004 15:59:52 -0000 From: To: Subject: Word file Date: Fri, 2 Jul 2004 17:59:59 +0200 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="----=_NextPart_000_0006_00005874.000023A1" X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal -- |

Worm.SomeFool.Gen-1 message found in email
There was no attachment, but I had to open the email to see what it was.
Just text. Thanks a ton. "Mike M" wrote in message ... Ignore it. Lots of current viruses spoof the sender so as to appear at a quick glance to have come from a different location than the really did. What's more important is that you didn't open the e-mail and run the attachment and thus infect your PC. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Sue noemail.com wrote: This was in my yahoo email today, first, I didn't send anything to anyone. Worm.SomeFool.Gen-1 message found in email
Ah, on re-reading your post I see it was a notification that an e-mail
apparently from you (which it wasn't as it had spoofed the sender address to be yours) that contained the virus. The virus had been removed. It appears that Worm.SomeFool is another name for the more familiar W32/Netsky.b@MM, presumably including the writers of the scanning software used by icafe8.ion.co.za -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Sue noemail.com wrote: There was no attachment, but I had to open the email to see what it was.
