Window size adjustment
I have a situation where open windows are smaller than the content of the
window. For example when I open the window to the connection to my DSL, the window is a specific size and can't be adjusted, but I can't see or select the button that allows me to connect to the internet. How do I adjust the window to get the full content of the window. TIA Greg |

Is the windows the full size of the desktop? If so, right-click on a blank
part of the desktop and select Properties then Settings. Adjust the Screen Area slider to a larger value, and select OK. If you can't see OK just press Enter. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "GregR" wrote in message ... I have a situation where open windows are smaller than the content of the window. Jeff, the window is not the full size if the desktop, much smaller. It is as
if the window should have scroll bars to view the whole content, but it doesn't. Greg "Jeff Richards" wrote in message ... Is the windows the full size of the desktop? If the window is smaller than the desktop, then what happens when you
maximise the window? Does it expand to fill the desktop area (so you can't see any of the desktop background). -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "GregR" wrote in message ... Jeff the window is fixed. There are no sliders or min/max buttons. In other
words the window is not scalable. As a result I can't get to the action buttons. Greg "Jeff Richards" wrote in message ... If this applies to only some windows, then the programmer has constructed
them to be fixed size. If you are missing the minimise, maximise and restore buttons in all applications then there is a problem in the system. What happens if you double-click in the menu bar, or right-click in the title bar and choose maximise? -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "GregR" wrote in message ... Jeff, it is only with this window. Although at one time I was able to access
the whole window. With every window however the text appears larger than ususal. I went into the appearance tab and tried to adjust text size to no avail, that option is not available. So it might be that the programmer has created the window a fixed size, and
that was OK when you had smaller text, but now that your text has grown the window isn't big enough, and you can't adjust it. There are several text size settings. Internet Explorer has one, which also applies in a number of other areas, but probably not in this case. There's one at Display (in Control Panel) / Settings / Advanced / Display. That affects a large number of items that are measured in DPI. Individual settings are at Display / Appearance, listed under the separate items such as messagebox or tooltip. Many items don't have a size setting, but the trick is finding the items that includes a font setting which controls the text in the problem windows - it's not easy to tell what setting the programmer has defaulted to. You can experiment safely, provided you take notice of the font size currently being used.. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "GregR" wrote in message ...
