Restart in MS-DOS
The PC will shut down (complete) without any problems. When I try to restart
in MS-Dos, the machine hangs with one task open called "Winoldap". I try to end this task and although Winoldap disappears from the task window, the PC just sits there with the empty desktop until I power the PC down. Any suggestions? -- JWilliams |

Restart in MS-DOS
"Winoldap" in Win9x is WINOA386.MOD, in the Windows\System folder.
It is a support file used to run DOS-based programs under Windows...."old apps". It should load when a DOS program is running, and should close when it is done. A DOS program may be poorly written, or not closing normally, and that is leaving Winoldap open or causing a conflict. Try to find what DOS-based program is responsible. Also, are you using the default restart in MS-DOS Mode on the Start Shutdown menu, or are you using a custom restart shortcut? -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "jwilliams" wrote in message news The PC will shut down (complete) without any problems.
