Windows 98 Logo FREEZE
HELP PLEASE,
My computer will not boot up, it freezes at the WIndows 98 Logo screen. I have tried booting in "Safe Mode" (which it attempts a self registry scan stating "An error has been found in your system files and restored a recent backup of the files to fix the problem, press ENTER to restart".) Upon pressing ENTER the Windows 98 Logo stares me in the face once again. Also, I have tried "Safe mode command prompt only", allowing me to do what it just did. I typed; C:\ cd windows\command then; scanreg/restore It has about 4 succesful "Started" choices. I've tried them all - leading straight to a Windows Logo failing to move on. Any help anyone? |

Could be one or more of your system files had become corrupt. One way this can happen is if the file is residing on a bad sector that hasn't been marked bad. Run Scandisk full surface scan. This can take a very, very long time depending on how big your HDD is. If Scandisk finds a bad sector it will mark it bad. If there is a file residing there it will attempt to reallocate it to good space. Sometimes that can fix the problem. -- ________ To email me, Edit "blog" from my email address. Brian M.
