Default Making Shortcut to Flash Stick to place in SendTo.

Hi,

Does anyone know or remember how to make a shortcut to a flash drive. ?
I managed to find a flash drive last week that actually works on 98, but I have forgotton how to
make a shortcut to the drive so that I can place it in the sendto folder, if I recall it was a bit
involved to make it all work, I think. Have already tried many things, including r/c on desktop to
make new shortcut then browsed to where FlashStick is (H: drive) but it wont let me make it.
Have posted to 98 group, but my message doesnt show so am trying here.

thanks

You are the first one I've heard of that actually want
to use the sendto submenu for "sending" files somewhere
Personally I was thinking about remove it or rename it
to "Open with" since C:\Windows\SendTo\ it is a good place
to put shortcuts to Notepad and Wordpad :-)

If your usb memorys drive letter is H:
then you should be able to create a send-to-H:
simply by making a shortcut to H: in C:\Windows\SendTo\
or by copying the "3,5-inch diskette (A).lnk" file that
is there and change the A:\ to H:\ in the properties
for it, or if Windows don't let you, edit the
shortcut-file with an hexeditor and change the two
places in it that refers to driveletter A:

In Windows Explorer have you tried to drag and drop Drive H: to the
Send To folder? It should bring up an alert that you can not do this
but then will ask if instead you would like to make a shortcut and of
course you do and then I think you done?

(a) Open Explorer to "C:\WINDOWS\SendTo".
(b) Copy/paste "3½ Floppy (A)" into the same folder.
(c) Rename the copy to "FlashStick (H)".
(d) R-Clk "FlashStick (H)", & select Properties.
(e) Change the Target from "A:\" to "H\:".

That should do it. Now you have a new SendTo item!

thanks

Moon Software has a free little program called File Targets
which you might find quite useful, although I have NO idea why I
am even bothering replying to you, since you are either retarded
and/or have me killfiled.

Death to desktop shortcuts.

You are welcome. I couldn't get it to work any other way, either.
