Default Kernel32.dll

A message cropped up saying "Crashrep has caused an error in Kernel32.dll.
Crashrep will now close". I know this is related to OPEN OFFICE. Rebooted
and then a new message surfaced "MSIMM has caused an error in MSHTML.DLL.
MSIMM will now close."

Ran a virus scan, then AdAware, Spybot and CWSchredder. Came up clean.
Rebooted and then got another message which I didn't take note of. At this
point, I decided to do a scanreg /restore (to Sunday) but this caused more
problems. Upon reboot, "the SHLWAPI.DLL file is linked to a missing export
USER32.dll". All the while a message box kept cropping up wanting to send an
IE error report but it appeared caught in a loop as a message surfaced from
Kerio saying something to the effect that Avast was trying to access the
internet.

Thinking that I created the problem with the scanreg command by going back
to a date prior to an update, I elected to uninstall AdAware, Avast, and
Spybot. At the same time I tried to do an IE repair but am stuck. In
ADD/REMOVE, I have,
IE 5 Custom
Internet Explorer Q903235
Internet Explorer Q905915

I highlighted IE5 Custom and clicked remove and on the next screen clicked
on REPAIR, at which point a subsequent box appeared seeking the disk for
data2.cab. A search revealed I had 3
C:\program files\compaq\navpl\userinst dated 4/6/01
C:\compaq\sp19458 dated 10/10/01
C:\cpqdrv\dvd dated 5/2/01

I selected the latest (sp19458) and the next message produced "crc error.
the file c\fc\entertainment\espn.url doesn't match the file in the setup cab
file. Tried the next one and got a similar message ""crc error. the file
c\fc\liens doesn't match the file in the setup cab file. Tried the third one
(oldest) and it then asked me to insert disk3 which doesn't exist on my
system.

At this point I thought I would do a system restore, but there are no dates
to restore (although I know there were 4 specific dates yesterday when I
checked).

Any advise as to my next step.

Thanks
