Picture Publishing 2001

Trying to use Picture Publishing 2001!!!!!
Open program no probs!
Select task eg: Blank project no probs!
But when trying to do anything to a project eg: add
somthing
the screen goes black and the light on the monitor goes
from green to orange ie: it shuts down then i press
ctrl alt del and end task on PIP 2001.
When monitor comes back on the image seems to falter
slightly. I tried adware/spybot/avg and shredder just in
case plus a reinstall of PIP 2001! but to no avail!!!!
This means i cannot print anything from my projects or
manipulate them
please help

Reboot to Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
Remove ALL Display Adapters
Remove ALL Monitors
Reboot to Normal Mode - Windows will reinstall the required drivers -
hopefully curing your problem.

If that doesn't work,. try updating your Video drivers

I am using ME oem with plenty of ram and space ie not many
programs cluttering it up
i will do that right now!

Still no joy and my video drivers seem up to date!!
this problem seems very strange as all my other stuff
works very well! System Restore did not help.
Could the program files be corrupt??

Go for the latest for Win9x from the mfr.

Has it ever worked? What have you done since then.

What exactly is the product name/mfr/version?

Ensure your video drivers are the latest from the mfgr for Win9x.

Has the program ever worked? What did you do since then (fresh install
Windows perhaps?).

Give DX Diagnostics a shot...
Start/Run/dxdiag

Its Picture Publishing 2001 from Microsoft!
Video driver is Nvidia GeForce2 MX MX 400
The program has worked fine until just recently

Where did you download it from? You'd think they'd have gotten the name
right at least.

Ok Ok i missed the word "it!" my appologies It came with
the computer from Tiny a "bundle" Works/Encarta/Autoroute
etc!
I tried a reinstall and it worked the first time but bout
an hour later it happened again
its perturbing to say the least

Probably more perturbing than trying to find info on an app that
somebody insists they have that doesn't seem to exist g

When you said "I think my graphics drivers are up-to-date" was that "I
went to nVidia's website and downloaded and installed the latest drivers
for Win9x(Win98/98SE/ME) for my specific card" up-to-date?

If the listed Monitor (in ControlPanel/System/DeviceManager) is not the
same as your Monitor, correct that.

Microsoft Knowledge base has a good 50-60 Troubleshooting tips for that
particular program... if I had to guess though, I'd say your display
resolution is set either too low or too high, try it at 800x600x16 and
see what happens.

Also try something with the stock pictures that came with the program.

Next on the list is going into ControlPanel/System/Performance/Graphics
and move the slider a notch to the left.
