I re-installed Windows 98 on a Packard Bell machine recently but it's
not running as modern-looking as it was. I'm a bit naive about this
subject - the fresh install has got rid of other problems, e.g.
windows Protection Errors, but do I now need to find drivers (and if
so, for what - monitor, grapohics card?) or updates? Are Windows 98
updates archived anywhere? The picture is very low res looking. Can
someone point me in the right direction to get this otherwise good
machine going well.

Thanks for all efforts.

You need to install the correct drivers for your graphics card. Windows has
installed default drivers, perhaps because it did not recognise the card in
your PC. The correct graphic card drivers would be included in the software
that was provided with the PC, or would be available from the manufacturer's
www site. Otherwise, if you can identify the brand and model of graphics
card installed in the machine then you could get the correct drivers from
one of the many driver download sites.
