Default Changing file type association for applications...

Hello All,

It seems that a nasty bug infected my system and changed
the "Opens with" parameter for the "Application", "MS-Dos
Application", and "MS-Dos Batch File" file types
to "SVCHOST". I removed the virus, however, I am stuck
now as I can't open up any applications. I need to reset
these file types to open with "[EXECUTABLE]". I, of
course, am not given the option of "Edit" when I click on
these file types, and since no application will load, I
can't run "Regedit". Any ideas?

Thanks,
Tomasz

Download this file, right click and select install:
http://a64.g.akamai.net/7/64/2015/20...rt/fixswen.inf

This will fix the .exe association in the registry

Thanks Ron, I will download it. However, I fixed the
problem. While I was waiting, I decided to see what
problems other people were having, and for one of them,
you said to use scanreg in dos mode.

So I booted up in dos, and restored the previous day's
registry. Now all is good.

Thanks again!
Tomasz
