Default Windows Media Player "Internal Application Error"

Every time I try to start up WMP 9 I get an error dialog box "Internal
Application Error". Have uninstalled WMP9 and reinstalled with no
improvement.

Unfortunatly I suffer from this also :what
Its very frustrating considering its a borrowed laptop and I would like
to return it in full working order. I'ts running on windows ME and
originally was running WMP7, I don't know if this was working when we
first recived the laptop as I updated it almost straight away. I would
guess however it was... Also I can't use windows update, every other
site works fine except the windows update site on which IE closes when
the 'cheaking for lastest update software' message is showing. I'm
stuped, no visuses, I can't re format as i said it dosn't belong to me,
have tried updating to IE 6 but again problem remains... Any help would
be greatly apreciated as I've relativly little experience of Win ME my
desktop running XP. Thanks. Keep you posted if i work it out. Josh.
