Default Get the Printable Version

When I receive some emails or open a website that offers to "Get the
Printable Version" it won't give me a Printable Version when I click on it.
Is this something I have disabled somehow or is it just common to some sites.
I would think that if the page offered to Get the Printable Version it would
be possible to do so. Thanks.

The printable version is just a different form of presentation of the page
that should print better than the standard version. What happens when you
try to print the printable version? You could try printing both the
standard and the printable version and check the difference. You could
provide an example of a site that you are having a problem with.

Yes I know the difference between the two. As I said, when I click on Get The Printable Version, nothing happens, the screen just remains as it is.

This is happening on my 85 yr old father's system. The site I had him try
was: http://kubookstore.kusports.com/basketball/schedules/. I can open the
Printable Version on this site just fine with XP Home, ME, and 98SE, but I'm
in a different state. He uses a 98SE and just started having this problem
with several sites, not just the one above I gave him to test. Thanks again.

But there's no reason the screen should change at all when you select the
option to get a printable version. The printable version is simply a
version that prints better - it might or might not also display on screen
differently (if they've done it properly, it won't should any difference in
the on-screen display at all). You won't notice that you're viewing the
printable version until you print it.

I don't know why you don't get the printable version but it does look
different from the page that you mentioned. See if you can go directly
there using this link:

http://kubookstore.kusports.com/bask...printable.html

Also, you might look to see if it came up on a new page. See if you have
more than one web page open.

Could be his cache is full, in IE, tools, Internet Options, delete files. The main
site could be in his cache which is why it opens okay, but the printable version
can't show because of no room in the temp folder.

Try right-clicking the link, click "open in a new window."

Didn't really look too indepth at your question, but it may be a
popup-blocker that's causing the new window to not open. Try CTRL-CLICK and
see where that gets you.
