Left pane is grey showing folders
When Windows Explorerer comes up on my
Win98SE box, I always use it in two-pane mode, folders on the left, content on the right. One day last week, it suddenly began showing only grey on the left panel. I could do a View|ExplorerBar|History or View|ExplorerBar|Media or the like, but when I switched back to View|ExplorerBar|Folders, it was still grey. I tried these steps: (1) I read MS Knowledge Base article 179875 on right pane issues, plus doing a CTRL-NKplus to set default spacing of content, but this does not help. (2) I read article 192315 also, but the value in this key is not present to be deleted. (3) I read Ron Badour's article on, "CHANGING MY COMPUTER TO TWO-PANE EXPLORER SCREEN", but to no avail. Nothing changed. How do I get the left pane to start showing the directory structure again? Win Explorer is one of my primary tools and this has already become a major hinderance to my work. PLEASE HELP! |

Internet Explorer and Explorer are closely intertwined and this may be a
problem caused by IE. Go to control panel, add remove programs, highlight IE, click remove and on the resulting screen, select the repair option. Make sure your anti virus program is disabled. A reinstall of IE might be necessary. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Need Help" wrote in message ...
