Default Win ME updates and printer drivers

I have a Canon Multipass C5500 that I have used
sucessfully for years with my computer running Win Me.
Over the last month I've been having more and more trouble
to the point where I can no longer print. I have
uninstalled/reinstalled the software for the printer
multiple times with various combinations of startup steps.
Now, when the computer starts and the software is loaded,
I get an error message that says some .dll file cannot be
found. This means that the printer driver isn't loaded.
I've tried deleting my zip drive, no difference. I've
tried using a slower CD drive, no difference
When reloading the software, everything appears normal. My
guess is that one of the more recent updates from MS is
causing Win Me to not recognize the .dll file.
Any suggestions?

What .dll?
Canon support has support documents that address .dll errors.
There is a Desktop Manager download as well.

Input .dll in the search

When you install a driver for your printer it is always better to completely cleanup
the previous install.
