Default Need advice on cleaning out dead dlls and registry entries

I am not experiencing any problems. My system is running fine.

I have been running Windows98 (new second edition) on my computer for six
years and over that time I am sure I've accumulated excess baggage in the
form of dlls and registry entries that were planted for any number of
internet surfing, application trials, and uninstalled apps. I've done just
about everything I could to trim the registry file system.dat from 9 meg to
just over 7 meg, got scanreg/fix to work again and am experiencing no
problems. Other than reinstalling windows and all my applications is there
any systematic technique to get rid of dead dlls and registry entries. Or,
should I just forget about this noble idea about cleaning the junk out.

TIA

If you delete any *.dll's put them in the Bin for awhile and see if
you get any complaints. I've got 3 partitions, the C:\ partition
alone has 4620 dll's. Some are shared and there are duplicates that
are needed. I'm doing the same thing you are and making some
progress although without deleting dll's.

Happy Holidays Everyone,

Too late now but monitor future installs/system changes with
TotalUninstall. Using it to dump programs will keep you lots cleaner
