Default System Configuration Utility Questions

I am running on Windows 98 second edition. I am not experiencing any
problems.

I just discovered that in my System Configuration Utility (Run
Msconfig) that on the General Tab the radio button for Selective
Startup was set. I don't know or remember how, when, or for what reason
that was done.

I have several questions:

1. Should the radio button for Normal Startup be set??

2. What was the result/impact of having Selective Startup set? Process
System ini file and Win ini file were unchecked. On the Win ini tab,
nothing was checked nor was anything on my System ini tab checked.

I'd appreciate any guidance.

TIA

Your interpretation is right. If AUTOEXEX and CONFIG
exist, but are not needed / General / Selective Startup
is the standard way of processing only those boot
files that you need, viz. your Registry.
