How to remove start up message box?
I am running Windows Me, but this also occurred with W98 before I upgraded.
I was given an older second hand laptop (1999 vintage NEC Versa) - It must have originally been owned by a company who put in a custom warning screen, although no company name comes up. The message box appears immediately before the Windows log-on box - It say something like - "Important Notice - This is a private network..... " or something like that. Have to hit return to acknowledge in order to get to log-on screen. Any ideas on how to remove this message? It is a bit annoying! |

Microsoft uses LOGOS.SYS and LOGOW.SYS for boot messages and the company's simplest way of customising might be to substitute for one of these. If you find any, look at them in IrfanView first. Instead of deleting the file, better just rename it, until you are sure the boot routine does not require it. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

open Explorer at the folder \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp and
double-click each item there. If one of them pops up with this message then you have found the problem. Move the file to a different location. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "George" wrote in message ... I am running Windows Me, but this also occurred with W98 before I upgraded. I tried both of these ideas without luck - But Thanks anyway! After a lot of snooping, I eventually found the message in the registry and was able to delete it. No more annoying messages! |
