Default Flash drive

I was just wondering do you know if it is posibal if a vista can download a
driver update for a 98 then burn that to a disk and install it to my 98(My 98
does not have internet) or is there any place to buy a driver update to use a
flash drive on a 98 or anything that will allow me to use a flash drive

Sure it's possible but I would not update any drivers unless the update
addresses
a specific problem or offers some type of feature you need but do not have.

In other words, don't update a driver simply because an update is available

What he said. But yes, certainly via a data CD: the CD data format is
independent of version of Windows (in fact independent of Windows, it's
a - ISO I think - standard, named after a book colour - "Blue Book" I
think).

Using flash drives on '98 is fine once you've got the driver - _is_ that
what you were after? Finding a flash drive for which a '9x driver is
available is hard; there are some universal drivers out there, see the
back history of this 'group.

It is certainly possible to do the download to a Vista machine and transfer
the file to the W98 machine as you have described, provided you have some
common media available, such as a floppy or CD.

If you want to use a memory card to transfer between the Vista machine and
the W98 machine, a CF card is probably the most reliable option. If the W98
machine has a PCMCIA slot, then a CF card in an adapter should work without
additional drivers. For the Vista machine, most multi-format card readers
support CF.

A different option is to use a network connection of some type, or even a
serial or parallel port connection such as InterSvr/InterLnk or LapLink.

I have seen a comment that a USB Mass Storage Device Driver is available
here, but I have not used it:
