Default Partiton magic and my hd

I have a HD that is not currently being seen by my
WIN98OS, but is seen by my bios.

I just got Partition Magic 8, and it sees the drive and
the partition(s) I have on it. It classifies them as "EZ-
DRIVE" type.

What can PMagic do for me to get win98 to see/use the
drive without me loosing the data on the drive?

At this point you shouldn't worry about or use PartitionMagic. You should
worry about getting EZDrive going again by searching for example the WD
knowledge base.

You will need to install the EZDrive software on the boot drive, but since
that other drive is the only one that has been created with EZDrive
partitions, it will only operate on that other drive. However, this is a
complicated process - is there any data on that drive that you need?

If not, simply erase the existing partitioning and create standard
DOS/Windows 32 partitioning. The simplest way to erase the drive is with ZAP
or WIPE at this site.

If you do need the data, it _might_ be possible to configure a DOS boot disk
with the EZDrive software, This would enable you to boot to DOS and copy the
data from the other drive to your main drive, and would avoid the need to
install EZDrive on the boot drive. Then wipe or zap it as above. Even though
this is a bit complicated, I would prefer this option over installing
EZDrive on your boot drive.

If possible, you should identify the version of EZDrive in use, as the
different versions are not always compatible. See if you can find a
partition identification utility at the WD site.

one that was recently formatted and the beginning of the
problem of me not being able to see my 100GB as it is my

if your bios sees the drive ok

you need to boot from your ez-drive floppy,
disable it and save...
(then uninstall it)

Install the 13Gig as your primary.
Install Win on it and then see if
you can view the 100Gig and its
partitions. If so post back.

Is this a new problem or is this the same problem that has already been
addressed? I can't tell from the name or the signature.

Your description is not quite clear but I think you have the 13Gb drive as
your primary or boot drive, and the 100Gb as an extra drive. You were using
EZBIOS to access the 100Gb drive. You then re-formatted the 13Gb drive and
now you can't access the 100Gb drive.

I assume that you are using EZBIOS because the system could not access the
whole of the 100Gb drive without it.

You need to re-install EZBIOS on the 13Gb (primary, or boot) drive. This
will re-enable access to the 100Gb drive.

If you no longer need EZBIOS (for instance, if you have upgraded your system
and the BIOS can now handle drives as large as 100Gb without extra help)
then you could install EZBIOS on a DOS boot floppy and boot to floppy in
order to copy the data from the 100Gb drive to the 13Gb drive (assuming it
will fit) and then zap or wipe the 100Gb drive. Note that this process will
change long file names to DOS file names. If this is an option then I
believe this is preferable, because your system is better off not using
EZBIOS if you don't need it. If in doubt, go for the first option (install
EZBIOS on the boot drive).

If the arrangement isn't as I have described it then there may be other
options.
