Default Power up problem

Hi
My computer has developed a strange problem. One day I could not turn it on.
My freind told me to unplug it from the power bar and unplug the power bar
from the wall. It worked, but now I have to do this 75% of the time I go to
turn it on. I have to unplug from the power bar, turn off the power bar, then
unplug the power bar from the wall. Plug everything back in and turn on the
powerbar, and away it goes. I have replaced the powerbar in hopes it would
solve this. But no luck. Anybody have some wisdom they would like to share?

If you have an AC voltmeter or tester, the next time it happens, see if you
have power at the end of the cord that plugs into your cpu. If there is
power there, then the problem is in your cpu, ie, power supply, HD, etc. If
no power at the end of that cord, check for power to the strip and from your
wall outlet.
It would help if you posted more detail about "could not turn it on".....do
you get any indications from the machine, ie lights, noise, etc?? My first
suspicion, based on info, is a bad wall outlet.....if you don't have the
means to test, the next time this happens, start "wiggling and pushing" on
connections to see if something is loose/not making good contact.

I finally had a chance in the morning to test. There is no power supply
trouble. I tested to the end of the power cord which plugs into the back of
my pc. There is power to the end of the cord. A little more info, like you
requested. I shut down at night, then in the morning I push the powerr
button. There is no sign of life. I then go through the routine of unpluging
from the power bar, turnign off the power bar, then upluging the bar from the
wall. Oddly, the pc will not power up if I only do one of these. But on the
other hand when I pulled the cord out of the pc to test, it powered up when I
plugged it back in.
Thanks for your help
In to Hierloom old and needs more power. My suggestions are buy a
mountain bike or run for president. Either will give you all the power you
need.

....the mountain bike, or running for president? - I suspect that he'd prefer
to go for the former (it's safer!) but OTOH, he may be better at the latter!

Sounds like a loose connection inside your PC case.......if you have any
electrical knowledge and an ohm meter, you should be able to track down the
loose connection with the power cable disconnected, of course. If you do
get inside the pc case, be sure to ground yourself to a bare metal part of
the case to prevent damage to static sensitive devices inside (or wear a
wrist strap designed for that purpose).
