Oh, Figgy, I know all about your undercover, super secret, USAF spyware

Your state-of-mind notwithstanding, that's the one, Figgs; low-altitude pass over Lake Ontario followed by a bank and climb. Ah.......thanks. I wasn't sure if I was remembering it right. You must be *real old* too. (G) It was a stately one, wasn't it. Back in the days when the Concorde would quietly come around the Island airport.....what a sight that was. I was watching Rick Mercer go up with the Snowbirds. I turned a ride down (duh)......but apparently I would have lost my lunch. They fib and tell you no rolls or loops, grin. Bet I wouldn't have lost it tho. Figgs Rick (you'd see the aircraft profile at what seemed eye-level from an embankment on shore with everybody cheering, then they hit the AB, and as it went through a slow, stately climbing turn, everybody's jaw dropped at the sight of those *magnificent* delta wings... swear you could hear the air roaring from under them) |

People who've been answering questions in this group more or less since Win ME was released have been effectively proven over several years to be allowed to chat amongst themselves in between helping others. You might liken it to a workforce being more productive when it enjoys going to work. Of course, you could always take it up with Microsoft. "What do I care? Give me a break...the NG's title is "microsoft.public.windowsme.general", ergo people come here to ask/answer questions in regards to that. Hey, I'm no moderator (God knows "I" hate them as much as the next person), but if you want to talk about topics other than this NG's topic, why not go to the proper NG then? One doesn't talk / ask questions about jobs in the USA in an Adobe NG, why discuss wine / food in this one...go to something like alt.food.wine (tec.) to chat. Me...you're right, "I" don't care, but someone, a newbie perhaps, who just might have a WinME (general) question might...just might, have a valid question to ask, without wanting to wade through a bunch of off topic, wine (whine?) chatting to get it. I know moderator-wanna-be issues come up like this all the time (hey, don't look at me...), so my bitch has been asked, and responded to. Thx for putting up with it. |

There are many people here who do answer questions with regards the OS
and once in a while make the NG more friendly for the newbies that come here by having a little banter among the regulars that is OT. What is wrong with that ? That way everyone feels more comfortable about joining in and helping out when they can, instead of just disappearing when their problem is solved, it makes for a much better experience of NG's Joan Nomad wrote: "What do I care? You have a good point, Nomad.....the real "meat" of this NG is to discuss
and solve problems for users of the Me OS. If you take a close look at the posts and responses, you will see that this is done. Yes, there are the occasional OT posts and some threads tend to deviate from the OP. This group, however, represents a large number of folks that have, virtually (and I do mean "virtually") communicated and become friends since the day Me came out. We are just a big happy family that lets anyone come to visit. Proper protocol?.....I stand guilty of not following it.....along with a number of others.....kinda like 'top posting.' g We are a happy group here, unlike some of the "protocol" groups. Along with a ton of good advice and help.......we play, joke, poke fun and thoroughly enjoy coming here. And, as a matter of point......most newbies don't 'wade through' prior posts for an answer or even do a search. Ask Mike Maltby, MS-MVP extraordinaire, how many times he has told someone how to get their 'thumbnails' back.....or if the 'Teddy Bear' is a real virus. You sound like an intelligent body.....I am sure you would be a great asset here. Hang around......you might just find you enjoy it, besides, you are most certainly welcome.
