First check you application's menus to see if there's a setting there to
disable running the application on startup.

Then make sure a shortcut to the application isn't in the "Startup"
folder on your Windows "Start" menu. You can right click on the "Start"
button to explore the "Start" menu folders.

Click the "Run" option on the "Start" menu and type "MSCONFIG.EXE" in
the resulting popup. Click the "Startup" tab and uncheck the box
adjacent to the program file you want to stop from running. Take
anouther look at the first step above. Some applications will add
themselves back to the MSCONFIG listing when you run them from a
shortcut unless you turn autostart off in the application's menu as
described above.

Alternatively, there are a number of 3rd party programs widely
available as shareware or freeware that achieve the same purpose, e.g.

First pick one of these to identify what loads at boot. Next, see
whether there is an option in it's menus to disable it from starting up.
If you really want to rid yourself of it on a more permanent basis, then
look for it in "Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs". However, it isn't
often easy to know what is what in there. One of these URL's may say.
Only last, go to StartUpCop.

Yes, it does seem that is what I meant. I have made the correction,
thanks. Looks like the original I posted would have gotten there,
nevertheless...
