Default Fatal Exceptions after fresh install

I have a computer that's getting fatal exception errors,
occasional freezes during boot, an autoreboot on occasion;
all after I fdisked and reinstalled 98, with all updates
and current McAfee virus definition files. I checked the
harddrive surface with scandisk, updated the BIOS and now
I'm wondering what I forgot.

Need new MoBo? RAM damage?
