You will need to reinstall your display adapter (graphic card) drivers to
fix the V128iitw error, and your McAfee ViruScan software to fix the vshinit error. -- Richard G. not enough memory
May I butt into this conversation? I recently switched to Comcast hi-speed
internet connection, and since the mcafee anti-virus is free w/ the comcast subscription, I deleted the Norton and downloaded and installed the mcafee. Well the mcafee seems to work fine, but my computer has slowed to almost zero. I ran the Comcast Disk Doctor and it reports my memory is running between 30 and 1 percent available. So I deleted all the folders I could find relating to Symantec/Norton and ditto for the registry. A little better, but not much. I went into the config program and X'ed out what I didn't need running (thanks to www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php). Still terrible. Takes several minutes to boot up; when I do anything at all the program takes a long time to boot, the mouse freezes, and after about a minute, things start to work again. Until I try another program. Sounds like something is gobbling up my memory, but I can't find anything running (I used cntrl-alt-del). I reloaded Windows (98SE). I don't think my hard drive is too full, but I deleted a bunch of pictures which I had backed up on a CD; still no good. Can anyone help? not enough memory
When you use Symantec or McAfee you should only use the core AV. The rest of
their suite may or may not suit you but for sure they are both resource hogs. And with McAfee, if you let VShield scan system files on the fly then you might as well give it up. I would put money on this suggestion. Especially if you made no other changes except for uninstalling Symantec. By the way, good luck uninstalling Symantec without causing problems. It's almost as bad as AOL. HTH, DTC "PMS" wrote in message ... May I butt into this conversation? not enough memory
Thanks. Seems to be better. As is typical, people who write programs assume
you want every feature, and really don't give much in the way of instructions. |

.... Thanks. Seems to be better. As is typical, people who write programs assume you want every feature, and really don't give much in the way of instructions. welcome to the human race, (of *******s). we darlings of today are leaveing all of this crap behind for the ones we 'claim' to love, or the ones we loved claiming to parent on the vinegar...... Seriously though, we really are leaving our kids all of the things we daily moan about; whether it be taxes, insurance, ads on telly, govs doing what they want using the money people earn, .... & etc. In regard to your problem, I agree, "ppl who affect your life assume you want every feature". nite paul |
