Sound, video, games devices
In normal mode I have five devices listed under Sound, video, game:
Audio codec Game controller Hauppage video Hauppage audio MPU-401 Midi In safe mode I have additional: BDA IPS Sink BDA MPE filter BDA Slip De-framer Microsoft Kernel Audio Mixer Microsoft Kernel Audio Splitter Microsoft Kernel DLS Synthesizer Microsoft Kernel DRM Descrambler Filter Microsoft Kernel GS Wavetable Synthesizer Microsoft Kernel System Audio Renderer Microsoft Kernel Streaming Clock Proxy Microsoft Kernel Streaming etc2 Microsoft Kernel Streaming etc3 Microsoft Kernel Streaming etc4 Microsoft Kernel Streaming etc5 Microsoft Kernel Streaming etc6 Are these left over from something I've uninstalled and should I remove them in Safe mode?

If all is well with your sound, leave them alone.
