Ive also tried start /run /cmd , but the mesage says 'windows cannot find cmd' A while back I had a similar problem and was advised to press cont /alt / del and remove some of the items on the list , which worked fine , but I cant remember which ones to avoid. Thanks Eric , I got the defrag running but I had to run scandisc first as there were some errors found . I thought this would have fixed a problem I had with the media player (9) but when I try to play a video I get an error message OxCOOD11BA (cant find file) , and when I play audio it says OxCOOD1197(problem with sound card), should I try system restore to fix the media player or down load another player ? |

How long have you been having problems with Windows Media Player? Unless
very recent system restore isn't the answer. First though check that your sound card is installed properly and functioning correctly. When you open the Device Manager (Control Panel | System) and expand Sound, video and game controllers (click the + sign), can you see your sound card/chip listed? Does its properties sheet tell you anything? If the sound card is AOK in the device manager, test that it is working. You can do this as follows: Control Panel | Sounds and Multimedia, select a sound in the Sounds tab and click Play (the button alongside the drop down Name box). Do you hear the selected sound? -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Windows Jimbowin wrote: I thought this would have fixed a problem I had with the media player (9) but when I try to play a video I get an error message OxCOOD11BA (cant find file) , and when I play audio it says OxCOOD1197(problem with sound card), should I try system restore to fix the media player or down load another player ? |

OK, so there's your problem, the audio drivers. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers and see if that fixes the problem. You might want to try downloading and installing a new driver set. Hopefully you will find a link on the manufacturer's site for your PC. I don't seem to be able to locate the Crystal site but have a look at this Lenovo site (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...GR-4PJN95.html) which explains how to find out the current version of your driver and also provides a link to a driver set (v5.12.01.4031a) that may, but also may not, work on your PC. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Windows |
