Default order of files in dialog box changed

I noticed that when I get an open file dialog box like in msvc6, the order is
no longer alphbetical... I always run norton speed disk and tell it to sort
folders and files, and the folders aere always in alpha order till recently,
and I dont know what changed. Is there a setting to sort files in dialog boxes
by name or date?

"Right-click Start, click Explore, and then click drive C."
"On the View menu, click Details."

What if there is a black blob to the left of Details, and clicking on
details has no effect? (Win 98SE on a friend's computer)

If that does not work, use the procedure in the other article I linked:

Belay that. I was expecting some kind of menu to come up.
What the instructions really mean is to just sort the C drive folders
into Name order. I'll get my friend to do that.
