setup on win98 for a shared printer connected to win2000 pro
Dear windows community:
I have a win98 computer connected to a workgroup. In that workgroup, there is a win2000 professional computer with a local printer shared without any problems with other win2000 computers. I'd like to be able to print from the win98 computer too. From the win98 computer, I went to add printers, browsed in network neighborhood to the computer where the printer is connected to, but the printer isn’t listed. The printer's shared name is Lexmark0. Do I need to install a driver so that the printer can be shared with win98? When I tried to do it, I was asked for the Windows2000 Server CD, which I don't have. It doesn't seem reasonable that windows2000 professional should be asking for that. I also don't think the problem is having too many computers connected to the printer server. At any point, I can type nbtstat and there are less than the maximum number (10) computers connected to it. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Wallace |
