DLL files
How important is a J_API32.DLL file, or is it a trojan,
and also the powrprof.dll file, trojan too? If both are needed, where do I get them. Have WIN98SE, zone alarm, antivir, spybot, etc. Also comes up Product TraceFiles are missing. I Have already had to reinstall w98se on the computer. Thank you for any advice. |

Try Safeway, they may have them. But you must be a member.

I have never seen a file named J_API32.DLL. (what do you find using an internet search-engine?) But the Power Profile Helper DLL (PowrProf.dll) is used at least twice during each boot. Mine is still the original 5.00.0910.1900 that came with Win98SE, so if it is really missing, you should be safe to extract a new copy of it using System File Checker (SFC.exe). You still gotta be suspicious and wonder what has made it dissapear - or never been installed - on your new reinstall. -- Please followup in newsgroup. OK I tried the SFC, extracted the file and rebooted the
computer. It still says powerprof.dll is missing. This being done today I'm not sure what else I need to do I was off this weekend and just got these computers back online today, so I wasn't able to check before then. -----Original Message----- Frank wrote: How important is a J_API32.DLL file, or is it a trojan, and also the powrprof.dll file, trojan too? Powrprof.dll belongs in C:\Windows\System. I'm just stating that in case you put it somewhere else. If you do indeed mean "powerprof.dll" and not "powrprof.dll" then you probably have a 'dialer' problem. It is known as Dial/Polski-B. Not sure if you have this problem or not, but here is a link to it: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/anal...alpolskib.html If you look at it, click on the Description tab. Buffalo |
