John,
The various colour depths available are a function of the video card and its drivers. Have you downloaded and installed the latest Win Me compatible drivers from the manufacturer's web site? If yes and you still aren't offered 32-bit colour then either the card or the drivers don't support that colour depth. -- Mike Maltby John Mullan wrote: i have reformattes my fathers pc and reinstalled windows millenium editon. after re installing the o/s i don't have an option for 32 bit color in the display properties dialogue box. can anyone please please help. thank you. john. |

The available colour depth can also be dependent on the screen resolution setting if there is only a small amount of video RAM available. For example, if your video card has only 8 mb of RAM you may only be able to get 16 bit colour if you have the resolution at 1600 x 1200 but if you decreased the resolution to 1024 x 768 then you would get 32 bit colour available as well. This is not something that is encountered very often today with the larger amounts of video RAM being used but it was a concern with older systems. Good luck Ron Martell Duncan B.C.
