Default problems starting up

when trying to start my computer in normal mode it will
flash to the screen with the windows logo and then
quickly change to a blue screen with a message that goes
something like:
"Windos ran into a problem while initializing device
Configmg.
windows protection error. You need to restart your
computer."

It might also say "system halted" in there somewhere, I
can't remember and I'm writing this from another computer.

In safe mode I have run the AWS Shredder, Adware, and
McAfee Virus Scan along with Scan Disk and a couple of
the troubleshooters.

Anyone know what's wrong? It happened after the computer
had frozen up while I was trying to open Explorer
yesterday morning. Nothing had been addd or removed
right before this happened.
